Be a Volunteer!
Your help is needed in helping to make Tsalila successful. Here’s what you can do:
Education Days
– staff one of the learning stations and help teach a 20 minute activity. All of the necessary materials and instructions will be provided, and you will be teamed up with another person. If you like talking with kids, this is a perfect job for you. If you have a particular expertise or a special interest in one of the activities, we’ll try to match you up, or put you where you are needed most. We prefer a full-day commitment, but half-day commitments are also appreciated. The Education Days are the Wednesday – Friday before the Festival.
Festival Days
– volunteers help orient people and sell T-shirts at the information booth, staff displays and learning stations, and help out with activities such as the salmon story telling tent or the salmon maze. Either full-day or half-day commitments are available. The primary skills needed are the willingness to talk to the public, be friendly, be flexible, and be on your feet for periods of time. The Festival is a weekend event immediately following the Education Days.
Tsalila Set Up and Take Down
– if you’d rather do something physical, help is always needed to get the site ready for our big event. We need people to help put out hay bales, set up the salmon maze, bring in the garbage cans, set up tables, hang signs, etc. and then help take it all down again. Prepare to get dusty! Set up starts the Monday and Tuesday before Education Days and Friday afternoon, and take down starts Sunday afternoon and continues to Monday.
